Jackson, Carl son M W 9 S MO Obituary copied from Walter's Find-a-Grave memorial page: Democrat Argus - Caruthersville, Missouri - Friday, January 16, 1953 Funeral services were held at the Dry Bayou Baptist church Saturday afternoon for Walter Edward Jackson, 72, who died at Doctor's Hospital in Poplar Bluff, January 8. Mr. Jackson was born in Pemiscot county July 5, 1880, and had lived in the Dry Bayou community until about eleven years ago when the family moved to Risco. He had been a farmer until retiring two years ago. He attended the Black Island school and was a member of the Masonic Order and of the Pentecostal church. On August 10, 1904, at Dry Bayou, he was married to Mrs. Betty Cheshire, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Dee and Paul Jackson of Benton Harbor, Mich.; and Carl Jackson of Risco; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Mannings and Mrs. Dovie Duckworth of Risco and Mrs. Genevieve Newingham of Chicago; a brother, Watson Jackson of Portageville; a sister, Mrs. Mae Pollard of Hayti; 22 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The Rev. Tom Woodcock conducted the funeral service and burial was in Dry Bayou Cemetery, with H.S. Smith Funeral Home in charge. References
