Records in Augusta County, Virginia
There are records in Augusta County, Virginia concerning Jane’s father, Walter Cunningham, but those records often get consolidated with, and applied to, the "younger" Capt. Walter Cunningham, son of John Cunningham. Once the "younger" Capt. Walter Cunningham comes of age (c1761) it is hard to decipher which Augusta records pertain to which Walter.
From Chalkley's:
- Page 448.--9th June, 1753. Robert Coningham, Esq., and Martha to Walter Davis, 328 acres in Beverley Manor on Cedar Spring. Teste: Pat Cunningham, Wm. Johnston, Walter Coningham .
- 1754---(Augusta County Fee Books) Page 3, Robert Jackson, Merchant, (March, 1754); page 15, Wm. Miller, Frederick, (March, 1754), Record Dunbarr's deeds; page 19, John Buchanan, Miller, (March, May); Walter Cunningham, Hampshire (among others)
- [NOTE: this is a non-alphabetized list so it could be assumed that it reflects neighbors and that the various tax amount reflects the size of the estates]

Notes for Walter Cunningham
Both wife, Martha, and daughter, Jane, have a date of death of 1759. Stepson Arthur Hamilton's land patent is neighbor to Nathaniel Davis and James Gilmore (two Beverley Manor men that remove to Kerrs Creek and are later killed in the Kerrs Creek Massacres 1759 & 1763)... perhaps Walter & Martha Cunningham make the move south to Kerrs Creek with the rest of the congregation, where James & Hugh Cunningham already resided... it would explain why Walter & Martha Cunningham & David and Jane Campbell disappeared from Augusta County records in 1759... perhaps they are in southern Augusta in what was to become Rockbridge County... needs more research
