    Mrs. Virginia F. Painter

    Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gable Funeral Home for Mrs. Virginia Francina Smith Painter, 87 Aurora, Colo., formerly of Topeka. She died Tuesday, March 4 at an Aurora hospital. Mrs. Painter worked at Santa Fe offices in Topeka several years. She was born Aug. 28, 1898, at Frankfort, the daughter of Eugene and Mary Musgrove (wrong spelling) Smith.

    Mrs. Painter was a member of Lowman United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Beulah Chapter No. 34 of the Order of Eastern Star, director of music 50 years for Social Order of Beauceaunt, member of Santa Fe Old Timers Club and Y-Matrons. She also was a tennis champion in Topeka for 16 years and was active in Topeka Golf Association.

    She was married to Buell "Jim" Painter Feb. 18, 1924 at Topeka. He died in 1971. A son, Richard Lee Painter died in 1931. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Ann Buch, Aurora, Colo., a son, James Lee Painter, Foster City, Calif., three sisters, Velma Smith, Topeka, Mrs. Vina Nelson, Green Valley, Ariz., and Mrs. Veronica Claunch, Mission; a brother, Herbert Smith, Wichita; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

    Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lowman United Methodist Church, 4000 Drury Lane, Topeka, 66604.
