• 28 Aug 1750 William Cunningham Sr was on the tithable list for Augusta County, Virginia (Augusta County Order Book 11, page 421). John Cunningham Sr was also on the list and appear to be adjoining neighbors on Thorney Branch so they are probably brothers.

Acquisition of Land from Chalkley's:

• William Cunningham received a patent for "90 acres on head of Moffett's Branch" on 12th February 1755, (as listed in the disposition below).

• William Cunningham received a patent for 350 acres "on Thorny Branch of North River of Shanandoah, corner Benj. Copeland's land, John Crosby's land" on 10th August 1759, (as listed in the disposition below).

Teste: John Davis, James Hogshead, John Malkem. Delivered: James Lockhart, 17th May, 1757. (Note: Charles Kilpatrick was the father-in-law of William Cunningham).

• Page 510.--22d August, 1767. William Cunningham and Jane to Ralph Lofftus, £90, 350 acres patented to William, 10th August, 1759, on Thorny Branch of North River of Shanandoah, corner Benj. Copeland's land, John Crosby's land. Teste: Edward Erwin, John Cozbe, Isaiah Curry

Note: It seems both John & William are selling out at the same time [moving to SC]

Note: William's relationship to John and Patrick Cunningham is not stated.
