Land Survey in Botetourt County, VA
- Surveyed For Thomas Lackey Two hundred & thirty two acres of land 209 acres thereof is part of a tract of 400 acres which was granted to William Crosewright by patent bearing date the 12th of February 1742 and the same was conveyed to Timothy Crosewright eldest son & heir at law to the said William Crosewright (who is now Deceased to James Patton by deeds of lease & release bearing the date the 26th & 27th of March 1746 & said Patton conveyed the same to William Logan by deed bearing date the 23rd of May 1750. and the property of the same became vested in John Logan son of the said William Logan and 23 acres thereof was granted to the said John Logan by patent bearing date the 1st of November 1782 founded on a Survey bearing date the 10th of September 1792 the property of the said tracts became vested in James Lackey & the said James (who is now dcd.) by his last will and testament bearing date the (blank) day of (blank) divided the said tracts to his sons Thomas & Nathan Lackey and the dais Thomas & Nathan hath mutually divided the said lands between them agreeable to their fathers last Will and by the said division the above was laid off for Thomas Lackey for his share of the above lands & the same Bounded as follows to Wit:
- Beginning at a Sycamore on the band of James River corner to the said tract of 23 acres to the land of William Campbell deed thence with the line of the same N 59 W 83 poles to a black oak on a line of the said grant 400 acre them with the lines of the same N 3 W 120 poles to a Bla?white oak a ? black oak & hickory. Thence S 85 1/2 W 144 poles. to a stake in a field thence (a division line South 208 poles to a large black oak on the bank of the River. Thence down the same as it meanders 231 poles passing an ash at 158 poles corner to the tracts of 400 & 23 acres to the beginning.
- Nathan Lackey's share contains 280 acres 231 acres thereof is part of the 280 acres. 231 acres thereof is part of the said grant of 400 acres & 49 acres thir? is part of a tract of 100 acres which was granted to Matthias Ripley by patent bearing date the 23rd of May 1790. and the said Ripley hath conveyed the same to the said James Lackey (who is now dec.d) who by his last Will & Testament divisioned the same to his son the said Nathan Lackey and the said tract of 280 acres lyes in Botetourt County on the North side of James River & is bounded as followeth to Wit:
- Beginning at a poplar at A on the bank of the River ? to the tract of 400 acres & runneth thence with the lines of the same & a line of a tract of 62 acres which was Surveyed for John Logan the 2nd of December 1785. N 3 W 140 poles passing the corner of the said tract of 62 acres to a poplar two hickories gum and oak to B N 85 1/2 E 176 poles crossing a branch at 150 poles to 2 white oak on the side of a hill at C Corner to the tract of 49 acres thence with the lines of the same N 45 1/2 E 205 poles to a white oak in the gap of a ridge at D. S 5 E 35 1/2 poles to a line of the land of William Campble dec.d at a white oak at E thence with the said line S 23 1/2 W 113 poles to a line of the aforesaid tract of 400 acres at F near two Spanish oak thence with said line S 85 1/2 W 64 poles to a stake in a field at G Corner to Thomas Lackey's division thence with a line of the same South 208 poles to a large black oak on the bank of the River at H thence up the river as it meanders and bending on the same 215 poles passing the mouth of the branch at 04 poles to the beginning

2. Thomas2 Lackey II (Thomas1) was born 1755 in Lancaster CO. PA, and died 1827 in Timber Ridge, Rockbridge Co.. He married (1) Martha Anderson ca. 1773. She was born ca. 1756, and died 1796. He married (2) Jemima Taylor 19 September 1801 in Rockbridge Co. (Source: :Rockbridge County Marriage Bonds, Date of marriage bond.). She was born ca. 1770

- + 11 iv. William3 Lackey, Maj., born ca. 1804 in Timber Ridge, Rockbridge Co.; died 1859.
- 12 v. Martha Lackey, born ca. 1806; died 1836. She m. James Patton Wilson 1826.
