Note: this account mis-spells the surname "Kirkpatrick", instead of "Kilpatrick".

  2.   The American Register: (TAR) Hugh Kirkpatrick, Kirkpatrick, Cyrus O.

Thomas [Kilpatrick] was born in Greenbrier County Va, in 1770, and died in Scioto County, Ohio in 1828. In the spring of 1806 he and his wife and two sons, Madison and John, and probably also two daughters Jane and Anna, emigrated to Ohio on a raft, via the Greenbriar, the New, the Kanawha and Ohio Rivers (note: There were still Indians at that time and place, attacking settlers, and travellers) He settled in what is now known as the Stockdale Neighborhood. There he taught school in winter and farmed in summer. In 1928 Joseph M. Kirkpatrick found his tombstone near Stockdale in a private burial ground on the land owned by C.E.Gordon. It is a sandstone slab and bears the inscription 'Thomas Kirkpatrick, born1770, died 1828, aged 58 years.'
He was married twice. November 9, 1793, he married Jenny Henderson (by Rev.Jacob Cook). On March 6,1806 he married Jemina Wilson (by Rev.John Pinnel). These certificates are on record at Lewisburg, WVa. Accordingly he must have been married the second time the very spring that he moved to Ohio."
Very possible that Jenny H. died sometime before 1806-possibly in childbirth with her fourth child.
