Early Land Acquisition in Augusta County, VA
Acquisition of Land from Chalkley's:
- Page 170.--8th November, 1766. Samuel Logan and Mary ( ) to Thomas Hutcheson, £30, 238 acres at head of Elk Run in Beverley Manor; Andrew McCluer's line, grub in the Barrens, new corner of Joseph Bell's. Delivered: Sarah Hutchison, 14th October, 1773.
Disposition of Land from Chalkley's:
- Page 296.--19th May, 1774. Sarah ( ) Hutcheson, widow of Thomas Hutcheson, deceased, to Andrew McClure. assignee of John Williams, carpenter. Thomas had sold to William 100 acres known as the Strawberry Draft (Thomas died on or about month of April, 1772). Delivered: Samuel McClure, February, 1778.
- Page 310.--1st May, 1786. Sarah ( ), Jane ( ), and Agness ( ) Hutchenson, of Shenagreen, Parish Donogh Henry County of Tyrone, Ireland, daughters and devisees of Thomas Hutchinson, late of Tinkling Spring Congregation, near Virginia in America, deceased. Thomas by his will, devised all his goods and lands to his three daughters, and about August, 1784, they appointed Francis McFarland, then of Escragh, to receive the legacies and devises; now they appoint their friend and relation, John McFarland, now of Grange in Ireland, to settle with Francis McFarland. Deposition by Hugh Burns, aged 60 years, of Evaal, County Tyrone, at Stewartstown, Tyrone County, 1st May, 1786, that he was personally acquainted with Thomas who lived in Sherragrim and went from thence many years ago to America, and Sarah, Jane and Agness are his daughters, and he knows John Farland before mentioned to be son to said Sarah Hutcheson. Witnessed and proved by John Higgins.
- Page 372.--25th November, 1786. Sarah. Jane and Agness Hutcheson (by John McFarland, attorney) (vid., power of attorney, &c., supra, p. 310) to Thomas Higgins, in Beverley Manor on head of Elk Run, grub in the Barrens.

- Page 507.-- 2d April, 1772. Thomas Hutcheson's will--To wife, Sarah, plantation and the boy, Thomas Rhoads (if she gives up Thomas Rhoades, then John Hamilton is to have him); to daughters, Agness and Sarah. Executors, Andrew McClure and John Hamilton. Teste: Zach. Johnston, Francis Alexander, John Williams. Proved, 20th May, 1772. by the witnesses. Both executors refuse to execute. Administration granted Sarah Hutcheson, who qualifies (her mark) with William Scott, William Scott.
- Page 8.--20th August, 1772. Recorded. Thos. Hutcheson's' appraisement by Walter Davis, Andrew McClure, John Hamilton.
- Page 397.--22d November, 1775. Thomas Hutcheson's estate in account with Sarah Hutcheson, administratrix--Cash paid Alex. St. Clair for liquor at the funeral, £0.15.6.
- Page 18.--7th April, 1787. Thos. Hutchison's estate settled by Robt. Scott, administrator of Sarah, who was dministratrix of Thomas--Paid Wm. Scott for finding Sarah Hutchison in a house to live in and fire wood for near two years. Burial expenses of the said Sarah Hutchison.
