John,

Col. Thomas Allen and Abigail Millar had 9 children. There is over 60 pages of information about their descendants contained in a book by Eva Miller Nourse titled "The Millar-du Bois Family, Its History and Genealogy" published in 1928. It includes a picture of David Hume Allen. There is much too much information to include here, but I will answer some of your questions...

The 9 children were:

1. Deborah Montgomery Allen (you have her information, but there are many more descendants listed in the book)
2. William Allen, b. 7 May 1769, d. 18 Aug 1809, m. 29 Dec 1796 to Sarah Meredith Scroggin (d. 20 Sep 1804), two children
3. Robert Allen, b. 2 Aug 1771, d. 23 Apr 1788
4. James Allen, b 14 Dec 1773, d. 4 Jan 1774
5. Thomas Allen, b. 27 Dec 1774, m. 20 Sept 1804 to Catharine Branson (1st cousin), seven children
6. Rebecca Allen, b. 14 June 1777, d. 4 Jun 1802, m. 8 Dec 1795 to Rev. William Williamson, three children
7. David Hume Allen, b. 24 Jul 1781, d. 1854, m. 22 Sep 1808 Sarah Griffin Taylor, eight children, graduated from Princeton University, lawyer
8. Joseph Allen, b. 23 Feb 1784, d. 12 Sep 1815
9. Robert Millar Allen, b. 16 Jan 1790, d. 14 May 1819, m. 4 Apr 1816 to Rebecca Branson (1st cousin, b. 14 Dec 1793, d. 14 Jan 1853), two children

The book also lists Col. Thomas Allen as the son of Robert and Deborah (Montgomery) Allan.

Regards, Mike Benson

John, I have information on the Millars. I assume you are referring to the Abigail Millar who married Thomas Allen? Regards, Mike Benson

Exactly Mike. What I have, Col. Thomas Allen b. 30 Aug 1734, Armagh, Ireland d. 15 July 1822, Mountain View, Shenandoah, Virginia. They had (that I know about) 2 Children.
