Stites Woolley was born on 6-June -1807 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the son of Isaac Wooley and Keziah Conkling both natives of New Jersey. He married first on 20 Oct 1835 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Martha Creatch. Stites married second on 9 May 1839 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Mary Ann Stevenson. Mary Ann was born on 29 Aug 1810 in London, Westminister, England. Mary Ann died on 10-Jan-1899 in Seward (Seward County), Nebraska. Stites died 10-Dec-1887 in Seward (Seward County), Nebraska. They are buried in Row 3 Lot 21 E, Seward Cemetery. The1860 census shows Stites Wooley living in Nebraska City as a farmer with his family. The 1870 census shows Stites and Mary living in Milford, Seward County Nebraska.

A Hamilton County Ohio deed shows Felix Conklin, uncle of Stites buying estate of Keziah Conkling Wooley from her heirs including Stites and wife Mary Ann.

The History of Seward Co. Neb. (1888) gives information on Stites. It says that the family arrived in Seward in 1866 where they improved a homestead. They had 8 children. The two oldest died in Cincinnati and the 2 youngest died in Nebraska City. The family first moved in 1856 to Nebraska City and in 1866 to Seward. The article names children Amelia, Fred, Henry, and Oliver. It says that Henry and Oliver "went West" prior to 1888.
