Frederick Rice Woolley, son of Stites and Mary Wooley was born on 23 December 1848 in Cincinnati, Ohio. On 25 February 1873 he married Celia E. Burgman of Irvington, Nebraska. Celia was born in March, 1856 in Iowa and died in 1925. A Seward County history says that as a lad of 15 Frederick drove a freight team to the mountains. On his twenty-first birthday, he homesteaded his own farm in Seward. He was one of the organizers of the Seward fire department. Frederick and Celia lived on the banks of Plum Creek. Frederick died on 31 October 1930 in Seward. Frederick and Celia are buried at the Seward Cemetery. He was married February 25, 1873, to Celia E. Burgman of Irvington, Nebr. Nine children were born to this union, seven of whom survive him: Phil of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Ora Fink of Seward, Herbert and Cecil of Twin Falls, Idaho, Floyd of Lincoln and Ethel of Seward. There are also seven grandchildren. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge and was one of the organizers of the Seward fire department, and was always greatly interested in these organizations. He was devoted to his family, true to his friends, a friend to all, and will be missed among his associates. Funeral services were conducted from the Chain & Wood funeral chapel Friday, January 2, at 2 p.m., by Rev. E. L. Reese. The body was laid to rest in the north (Seward) cemetery, the committal services being mainly in charge of the Odd Fellows lodge of Seward. Seward Independent Democrat, Seward, NE, Thurs, Jan 8, 1931
