Stephen Conklin, Jr., son of Stephen and Anna (Crane) Conkling was probably born on 28 November 1794 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He moved to Cincinnati, Ohio with his parents in 1804. His wife, Sarah Mills, daughter of Abner and Betsy (Marsh) Mills, was born on 29 September 1798, probably in New Jersey. Stephen helped to found the Methodist Church of Tobasco (Hamilton County, Ohio) around 1835. He was a member and a trustee of that church in 1842. Stephen and Sarah first lived in Cincinnati and then moved slightly east of Cincinnati to Clermont County, Ohio. Sarah died on 14 May 1850 at the age of 51 years, 7 months, and fifteen days and Stephen died on 31 August 1850 at the age of 55 years, 9 months, and 3 days. Stephen and Sarah are buried with their son, Abner and Stephen's parents at Mount Moriah Methodist Cemetery in Withamsville (Clermont County), Ohio.
