Sophia Newborn was baptised on 3rd June 1787 at Barnack in Northamptonshire, daughter of Mary Newborn, formerly Lambert, and her husband Edward Newborn.
In 1822, when Sophia was 34, she had an illegitimate daughter, Ann, with a man named John Dolby. There was a carpenter called John Dolby who died in Barnack the following year aged 32, who may well have been the father.
Later in 1822, Sophia's father died.
Sophia's mother died in 1832. Later that year, aged 45, Sophia married a cottager and market gardener called Hosea Henson. They married at Barnack on 9th July 1832. The marriage appears to have been childless. In 1834, Sophia's daughter Ann died, aged 12.
Sophia and Hosea appear in Barnack in each census from 1841 to 1861. In 1851 Sophia was described as a dairywoman.
Sophia died on 8th July 1870, aged 83, at the Stamford Union Workhouse. Hosea outlived her by eleven years.
