Sarah Newborn was baptised on 12th July 1772 at Barnack in Northamptonshire, the eldest child of Mary Newborn, formerly Lambert, and her husband Edward Newborn, who had married just over a year earlier. Edward and Mary went on to have twelve children in total in Barnack, although some died young.

Sarah was married on 13th March 1796 at the church of St James, Piccadilly, in the western suburbs of London, to Edward Pask. After their marriage, they returned to the Barnack area. Sarah and Edward both witnessed her sister Ann's marriage at Ufford in 1797.

Sarah and Edward had a son baptised in Barnack in 1799 and a daughter there in 1802. They later left Barnack and moved just over the border to neighbouring Lincolnshire, where they had a daughter baptised at Baston in 1804, two children at nearby Barholm in 1806 and 1808, and one more daughter at Barkston in 1814.

Edward worked for many years as a keeper (presumably in the sense of gamekeeper) for a Dr Willis at Greatford, which is near both Baston and Barholm.

Back in Barnack, Sarah's father died in 1822 and her mother died in 1832.

By the mid 1830s, Edward and Sarah were living in the town Stamford. Edward died there on 9th March 1836. He was buried three days later at Barnack.

The 1841 census finds Sarah and some of her children living on Empingham Road in Stamford. Sarah died there on 29th July 1842, aged 70. She too was buried back in her native parish of Barnack.

    Baptisms 1772 / Sarah Dau[ghte]r of Edw[ar]d & Mary Newman - July 12th

Although Sarah's baptism records the surname as Newman, we can be reasonably confident that this is a mistake - there are no other Newmans in the parish, the parent's names are given as Edward and Mary, and there would otherwise be a longer than usual gap between Edward and Mary's marriage in 1771 and the baptism of their first child listed as Newborn, being Catherine in 1774.
