Name Mary Lambert
Gender Female
Birth[2] Abt 1751
Marriage 30 Jun 1771 Barnack, Northamptonshire, Englandto Edward Newborn
Burial[2] 8 Feb 1832 Barnack, Northamptonshire, England

Mary Lambert's origins have yet to be established for certain. The age quoted at her burial suggests she was born around 1750.

Mary's first confirmed sighting is on 30th June 1771, when she married Edward Newborn, at Barnack in Northamptonshire. They went on to have 12 children together over the next 22 years, although at least three died young.

Mary's first known grandchild (her daughter Catherine's daughter) was born in 1796. Mary had at least 40 grandchildren born in her lifetime.

Edward died in 1822, aged 75. Mary outlived him by nearly ten years, and was buried at Barnack on 8th February 1832, when she was said to be 81.

After her death her son Charles secured a grant of administration to allow him to administer her estate, which was valued at under £100.

    Baptisms 1751 / Mary Dau[gh]t[e]r of Robert & Mary Lambert Sept[ember] 15 / Pilsgate

Whilst this baptism is in the same parish that the adult Mary married, had her children and died in, it is not certain that it is the same person as the Mary who married Edward Newborn in June 1771. In particular, there is a burial at Barnack in December 1771 of an "Ann daughter of Mary Lambert" raising the possibility that there were two Mary Lamberts living in Barnack. There was also another Mary Lambert baptised at Barnack in 1745, and whilst the 1745 baptism is perhaps a little too early for a woman whose youngest child was not baptised until 1793, it is not beyond the realms of possibility. It is possible that the 1751 baptism was daughter of Robert Lambert and Mary Bywaters, but this has not been proven. There was another couple called Robert Lambert and Mary Thrift who married a few miles north of Barnack at Braceborough in Lincolnshire in 1744 and had a number of children at nearby Witham on the Hill - they could have moved to Barnack.
