John Dolby was named as the father of an illegitimate girl called Ann Newborn, baptised in 1822 at Barnack in Northamptonshire, whose mother was a Sophia Newborn. The only John Dolby living locally at the time who has been identified was a carpenter who died the following year, on 31st August 1823. He was said to be 32 years old, which would appear to correspond with the John Dalby who had been baptised in Barnack on 20th February 1791.
