Facts and Events
Many thanks to Monte Hart for data shared on this family, in fact most of what I have on this family came from him. Sarah wife of Edward Freeman may be a Dugger but that isn't proven. If she is a Dugger then it seems likely she is a child of Daniel Dugger and Mary Scarborough. Sarah married Edward Freeman sometime prior to June 1762 when they sold some property together in Brunswick Co, VA. Their is no direct evidence that she was a Dugger, however, they named their oldest known child Dugger Freeman, born ca 1765/68 in Brunswick Co, VA. This indicates a Dugger family connection, or just a friendship connection. Some records show that Duggers and Freemans lived in the same region of Brunswick Co, VA, so it is entirely possible that Sarah was another child of Daniel Dugger. If she was 21 when she married (assuming it was ca 1762), then she was born ca 1741 or earlier. Depending on when she was born she may be a grandchild of Daniel Dugger instead of a daughter. It is entirely speculative right now about Sarah being a Dugger, but I feel compelled to include her here, just for study purposes, until we can prove (or disprove) that she was a Dugger. On 27 Aug 1759 John Freeman sold Edward Freeman 100 acres on the North side of Maherrin River in Brunswick Co, VA. (Brunswick Co, VA Deed Book 6 page 392). On 29 Jun 1762 Edward Freeman and Sarah his wife, sold 50 acres to John Robinson. (Brunswick Co, VA Deed Book 7 page 136). The 1790 census of Virginia is lost, so we have no listing for Edward Freeman for that year. On 21 Nov 1790 Edward Freeman sold 100 acres to John Burnitt (Burnett?). This land was on the south side of the Meherrin River. Sarah, his wife, was not mentioned on this deed, so that may indicate she was dead by then, but not necessarily. (Brunswick Co, VA Deed Book 15 page 166). References
