Advisory on Parentage of Samuel Todd

Some sources claim that this Samuel Todd was a son of a Samuel Todd and Ann Houston. This is factually incorrect, based upon "family tradition" and probably incorrectly identified as sons of Samuel Todd by family historians in the 1930s. This Samuel Todd has been proven to be a son of William Todd, based upon several records in Augusta & Botetourt County, Virginia and later records in Clay & Jefferson County, Kentucky. There is a thorough discussion of Samuel's parentage and the accompanying records at the following site (courtesy of Richard McMurtry): http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mcmurtriecfr/richard/todd/correctingthesamueltoddtraditions.htm
