Overview

Samuel, son of Col. William Edmiston and wife Margaret is said to have been born in 1768, or immediately prior to his parents appearing in Southwest Virginia c1770. This probably means that he was born in the New River settlement during the families short stay in that area. Some authors identify him as the Samuel Edmiston who married "Nellie" Perkins in Davidson County, TN in 1791. This seems plausible since a) other family members moved to this area following the Revolution, b) there are seem to be no records for a Samuel Edmiston in SW VA after this date, This needs to be verified. and c) the DOM is consistent with someone born in 1768 (ie., age 23).
