Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. : Wilson, Robert, born 1749 abt. 6 miles from Staunton, [Augusta County], Virginia; entered service Augusta County, Virginia, in Virginia company; moved to Catawba River in North Carolina to live with brother John, & entered service there in North Carolina company; moved after 1.5 years with John to Kentucky where soldier served as scout & ranger in unit to protect inhabitants form indians; brother John killed in action at Battle of Blue Licks, soldier resided after Revolutionary War in Kentucky in several years, then to Indiana where resided in Dearborn County, Switzerland County, Wayne County, Henry County & Hancock County, all in Indiana; granted Pension 1833 in Hancock County, Indiana; last Pension payment in file 1839 in Indiana; query letter in file says soldier was buried in Hancock County, Indiana.
