Robert Hope MONCRIEFF (1786-1831) of Culfarie, Perthshire, was son of Alexander Moncrieff and Janet Veitch (Latter day saints). Robert married Isobella AITKEN 7feb1810 at Perth (IGI). Robert, Writer to H.M. Signet (WS), married Isabell AITKEN, daughter of George Aitken of Todhall, or ATKINS (Latter day saints, G. MacGregor). Scottish archives have a will of Robert Hope Moncrieff, writer in Perth, reg 1852, Perth (scotlandspeople); it is unclear whether it pertains to this or another Robert. Also the will of Isabella Moncrieff alias Aitken, widow of Robert Hope Moncrieff, writer in Perth, reg 1862, Perth (scotlandspeoplle). In 1841 Robert Moncrieff (1786 writer), Alexander (1818 writer), George (1821 writer), Isabella (?1816), Margret (1827), Matt (1796), all b. Perth, were at 5 Athell Pl., Perth (census). In 1851 Robert H. Moncrief (1787 Hinaal, Perthshire, procurator in Perth Lol), wife Issabell (1792 Cupar, Fife), children (b. Perth), Mary (1829), Margaret Y. (1827), visitor Lawrence Robertson (1831 Glasgow, accountant apprentice), were at 5 Athole Pl., Perth (census). This is possibly Robert: Robertus Moncrieff (No. 6079, matriculated in 1799) filius natu 2dus Alexandri Agricolae in com: de Perth (Matriculation albums, Glasgow University).
