Rhoda Copps was baptised on 17th April 1825 at Weston in Hertfordshire, daughter of Rhoda Copps, formerly Gundril, and her husband John Copps, a labourer. Some time between Rhoda's baptism and the baptism of her sister Elizabeth three years later the family moved to the neighbouring parish of Graveley.

In 1840, when Rhoda was fifteen years old, her father John died aged about 42. Rhoda appears in the following year's census living with her mother and siblings at Jacks Hill in Graveley. She has yet to be researched after 1841.
