  Rachel was a half- sister of Mary Elizabeth Thrapp who married her husband Samuel's older brother, Franklin Charles at Putnam, Co., OH on 1 Jan. 1857. Cemetery book reported to show Mrs. R. J. Brought, d.1926 and Samual Brought, b.1843, d. Nov. 11, 1908 Civil War Veteran 17th IA Vol. Inf. See Military Archives records stating that he was a POW at Andersonville, GA.    See Sep.1981, pg 8 Gilboa Gazette Matthew Chambers Genealogy article showing Rachel Thrapp, b. Sep 29, 1842, dau. of Newton Baker Thrapp and Barbara Chambers, married Samuel R. Brought on Oct. 8, 1871.

See US Census 1920 for KS, Labette Co., Richland Twp. for Merritt T. Braught with his mother, Rachel T. Braught, Widow, age 78, she and both of her parents born in Ohio.

  From my 17 Jul 1997 visit to Oswego, KS Museum was found 1905 Richland Twsp (Labette Co.) map showing S.M. and R.T/J. Braught each owning sections of the NE corner several hundred yards West of the Neosho River.  In 16 Jun1900 Census of Richland Twsp, Labette Co., KS there was living next door a Charles C. Taylor "boarder", b. May 1860, age 40, single farmer;  he and parents born in OH.  Taylor and Braught families were steadfastly close in friendship, location, and marriages from late 1700s in PA.
