Research notes
- Allen Co., OH Biographical History pg. 517 tells that he was a merchant at Bluffton.
- An ex-soldier born Feb. 14, 1844 he enlisted at Findlay, OH in July 1862, Co. D. 99th OH vol. and served with that regiment after its consolidation into the 15th OH Vol. Inf. until the close of the war. He fought in Stone River, Chickamauga, Lookout Mountain, Missionary Ridge, Ringgold, Atlanta, Dalton, Pumpkinvine Creek, Taylor's Ridge, and the second battle of Nashville (besides numerous minor skermishes). Never sick, wounded, or taken prisoner; honorably discharged July 1865.
- after the war he returned to Putnam Co and married Orpha D. Hall.
