By referring to "RECORDS OP AUGUSTA CO., VA.’’, we are given more information. In Vol. Ill, page 578, we find in Deed Book #25 "page 31 - 16th May, 1786, Philip Hansell to sons LAWRENCE and GEORGE HANSELL horses, cattle, chattels". In same Vol. Ill, page 581, we find Deed Book #26, "Page 62, 18th Mar. 1786, Philip Hansell to Lawrence and Geo. Hansell"; also. Page 159, same Deed Book, Mar. 7th, 1795, Geo. Hansel’s Est. appraised by three parties, sale of above at vendue to (Page 160) Miss Hansel, and four other names, Tumelson, Polls, Phifer, and Broker. Again in Vol. II, page 391, "23 Dec. 1799. John Moore (now acting Adm. of Geo. Hansel)". Also, in Vol. II, "1785, Mar. 31, Charles Caphart married to Dorothy Hansel, dau. of Philip Hansel, Augusta Co., Va.” Also, in Vol. II, page 506, Aug. 1832, under ’’Declaration Serv. & Heirs”, a list of names showed a ”Geo. Hensel”, (believe for pension purposes). The writers have investigated some of the Hansell records in Augusta County, Va. The first real estate record we can find, as shown in Deed Book #23, page 368, Phillip Hansell bought from Alexander Kirk 185 acres on Middle River of Shenandoah, May 15, 1781. In Deed Book 26, page 62, Mar. 18, 1786, Phillip Hansell of Augusta Co. deeded the 185 acres to LAWRENCE and GEORGE HANSELL of said county, described as ”on Middle River of Shenandoah”., witnesses, John Kirk, William Crawford and William Sterrett. On May 16, 1786, in Deed Book #25, page 341, Phillip Hansell deeded his live stock, etc. to his sons, Lawrence and George. We do not know whether Philip died soon after or whether he might have gone back to vicinity of Shepherdstown, Va. His son, George, died no doubt in 1799. It will be noted that George evidently had only one daughter, or else five daughters; also, 23 Dec. 1799, JOHN MOORE, now acting administrator. The writers do not believe him to be the same John Moore, who was an Executor of the MICHAEL HANSILL, Est. in Berkeley Co., Va. Now as to the military records of LAWRENCE and GEORGE HANSELL, we find both in Capt. McKitrick’s Co. in 1782, and in Capt. John Kirk’s Co. in 1783 and 1785, George Hansell. We are told the only activity, authority, ”Waddell’s Annals of Augusta Co., Va.”, page 273, was during the spring of 1780, the militia was called out, they going to Forts Dinwiddle and Warwick.
At the latter place, they stayed three months. The men were under Capt. John McKitrick, numbering only forty, no lieutenants. It would appear to the writers probably Lawrence and George Hansell did not see any active service.

Berks Co., Pa. records would indicate that most of the Hentzels had left Berks Co. sometime between 1768 and 1774.

"History of Berks and Lebanon Counties" by J.Daniel Rupp, showed in 1752 tax list of Barn Tp., Berks Co. (page 128) MICHAEL HANSEL: same authority, page 251, PHILIP HENSEL near Blue Mountain.
