According to informant, P. M. Bassel of Temple, Texas, Neal Bassel was born in Texas to J.D. Bassel of West Virginia and Sarah Jane Misser of Tennessee. He had been living at the Gunter Hotel in Temple and was about 60 years of age at the time of his death. He was married at the time to Mrs. Neal Bassel. He was in the wholesale produce business. Cause of death was listed as acute alcoholism. Neal died April 4, 1930 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. Burial took place the same day in Temple. Hagy & McCollum of 425 E. Pecan St. handled the arrangements.
