"the bride said that the affair had been planned for some time. About two weeks before the wedding, Jack secured the marriage license and then they watched for an opportunity to come to Tell City and have the knot tied. On Sunday evening, after having attended church, the bride went to bed where she remained until the family slept. then she quietly left the house and went out into the darkness of night to meet the lover who waited nearby. They arrived in Tell City sometime after midnight and went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Geddings where the happiness of the pair was made complete. They then went their way rejoicing"
