Facts and Events
Maude completed two years of high school, married John, and left school. She and John spent their lives in Spring Valley. After John died Ruth Wallace Claff came to live with Maude at 4 Van Orden Ave. Ruth died at the age of 93 in 1993, and Maude, although blind, continued to live alone despite all the advice and offers of her children, nephew, and grandson to move her in with them. Maude's daughter Ruth died in 1995, leaving Maude very much alone in Spring Valley except for her friend Dick, who kept an eye on her. Maude died on September 2, 2002, almost 99 years old. She had fallen out of bed and broken her hip, and the surgery was more than she could survive. Chester and Eleanor Claff had fortunately stopped in to see her in July, 2002, when she seemed spritely if not quite "with it," and insisted on hugging us many times. After all, we "only lived and hour away, and why didn't we visit more often?" SIDGMORE, MAUDE - Maude Sidgmore a life resident of Spring Valley died September 2, 2002 at Good Samaritan Hospital.
