Ruth Richey was born in Hopkins, County, Texas, the daughter of Paul Gray Richey and Lois Brownfield. She lived her younger years growing up in East Texas, Pine Forest, and later in Longview and Kilgore, Texas.

Ruth later moved to Dallas, Texas where she lived most of her life. She met her last husband, Milton Aricheta, while she was working at the Naval Air Station in Grand Prairie, Texas, where he was stationed. They were married and lived the rest of their lives in Dallas, Texas.

Ruth was an accomplished seamstress, and she sewed custom clothes for others, often cutting her own patterns and making them from a picture she would see in a magazine or in a store window. She also loved to use roller paints, make quilts, and was as avid gardener, especially loving flowers. She was an exceptional cook, making all kinds of wonderful food for her family.

Ruth had a long battle with recurring blood clots in her legs. She passed away suddenly in Dallas, Texas at her home after a having the flu with heart failure.

Ruth is buried in Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas next to her husband, Milton.
