Biography of Paul Richey

Mr Richey was born September 27, 1901 in Hopkins County, the son of Elijah Truitt Richey and Sarah Gray Richey[1]. He was an electrician; a veteran of the U. S. Army[8], a member of the Saltillo Masonic Lodge, No 631, and a Knight Templar of Dallas. He attended Sunnyvale Baptist Church.

He loved to sing and was a bass quartet singer, having a beautiful voice. He loved gospel quartet music and sang in quartet's in many churches across North and East Texas[10].

Paul married Lois Brownfield in 1923 and they had two girls, Mattie and Tressie. He was divorced in about 1928. He then married the former Mrs. Irene Campbell Tuttle, April 5, 1931, in Shreveport, La.

Paul and Irene lived part of their early lives on the former E. T. Richey farm in Pine Forest where they operated a dairy farm with over 100 dairy cows. They also had a huge Pecan grove and sold pecans in the winter. They sold their farm and moved to Dallas in about 1958.

He resided in Dallas with his wife, Irene, the last fourteen years of his life. Paul G. Richey, 68 of Dallas, died Sunday, September 20, 1970, in Baylor Hospital, Dallas, Texas. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Pine Forest (Texas) Methodist church with interment in the Pine Forest Cemetery in Hopkins County, Texas.

Survivors are his wife, Irene, two daughters, Mrs Ruth Aricheta of Dallas, and Mrs Tressie Laycock of Florida. Eight grand-children along with several nieces and nephews.

Members of the Masonic Lodge served as pallbearers. Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs was in charge of the services.
