His parents divorced about 1928. His mother married a second time, Ralph R Lee, a lawyer from Erie, Pennsylvania and they moved to Washington, D.C. where they are found on the 1930 census[3]. They returned to live in New Jersey where Browning attended Gill St. Barnard's School, where he graduated in 1938. Browning enlisted in the Army in January 1938 on Whitehall Street in New York City. He was living in South Pasadena, California at the time as his mother and at least one of his aunts had moved to California. He trained in basic training at Fort Slocum, New Jersey and prepared for service in Hawaii. He served in the Division Medical Detachment with the Medical Regiment from 1938 to 1940 in the then Territory of Hawaii at Schofield Barracks[4]. He was released form active military duty on August 19, 1943 from Halloran Hospital at Staten Island, New York and served in the regular Army Reserve after release. Browning enrolled in St Paul Nursing School in Dallas, Texas where he met Ruth Richey about 1948. They never married, but she gave birth to a daughter in 1949. Browning left St Paul in early August of 1949 and enrolled at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnisota. He retired from there after twenty-five years. In 1985, his daughter ran across a "DeBaun" genealogy book and her father and uncle were listed in the book[5]. She was able to get in touch with her uncle and her father in early 1986. He flew to Dallas to meet her for the first time. They were able to have many visits and to get to know each other. His wife, Murial, passed away on Dec 11, 1987. Browning, his son and three of his grandchildren moved to Oceanside, California. Browning's health declined after he had a couple of stokes. After a long illness he passed away in San Diego, California on 28 December, 2007[6], a few days before his 90th birthday. He was cremated and interred at Fort Roscrans, San Diego, California with Military honors. Image Gallery
