Information from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 4, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. :
- Patton, Matthew - born 5/1740 [prob. s/b 1750] (old style), Augusta County, Virginia; moved to Baltimore, Maryland, when young man, where he entered service 1775 in Maryland unit; granted Pension 1834 in Christian County, Kentucky, as Matthew Sr. when resided there abt. 20 years; query letter in file in 1908 from great granddaughter Mrs. Thomas W.L. Meler, Winchester, Kentucky, who also was great granddaughter of Virginia Revolutionary Soldier Raleigh/Rawlings Williams; query letter in file 1922 from descendant Mrs. Anna L. Martin, Little Rock, Arkansas; query letter in file says soldier married Hester Dyer. F-S31294, R1889.

- Vol. 2 - DISTRICT CIRCUIT COURT EXECUTIONS., SEPTEMBER, 1794 (A to I). - William Gregg vs. Moses Henkle--Writ to Pendleton, 7th November, 1791. Case. In 1768 William entered 400 acres in Augusta on Roaring Spring, on Seneca and the North Fork, &c., &c., and another entry, 9th January, 1772. Defendant was surveyor for Pendleton, but refused to survey the land for plaintiff, but did survey it for others. Mathew Patton is about to remove to Kentucky, 4th September, 1793.
