- ↑ It is assumed that Mary is the woman who married William Snelling 4 Jul 1692, since she seems like the only likely candidate. However, no evidence is known to tie the wife of William Snelling to this Mary except the marriage being in Marblehead. Torrey lists the marriage based on the Marblehead VRs but does not identify either participant. Possibly William Snelling is the person discussed in GDMNH, p. 949, as son of John of Saco, b. 9 Apr 1671, but no marriage is shown there.
- In Mary's father's probate (Essex Case 28248) her brother Philip gives a bond to pay, among the other heirs, "John Bennet of Marblehead In write of his wife Mary". John Bennett does not seem to show up in Marblehead records and has not been identified. If Mary married William Snelling, he may well be one of the John Bennetts mentioned in GDMNH, p. 88, but that is speculation.
