- ↑ Torrey's date of "by 1688" is based on the birth of daughter Deliverance in Marblehead VRs, p. 1:522, the only birth recorded for Andrew and Mary. But she is named Mary Tucker in her father's will of 1678 (Source:Essex, Massachusetts, United States. Records and Files of the Quarterly Courts of Essex County, Massachusetts, Vol. 7, p. 144, and in 1682, she referred to John Tucker as her son when he was sentenced to be whipped for fornication (Source:Essex, Massachusetts, United States. Records and Files of the Quarterly Courts of Essex County, Massachusetts, Vol. 30, p. 279). Clearly this legal use of the word "son" does rule out her being a second wife, and therefore not John's natural mother, but there is no evidence she wasn't, and this incident also suggests that John was born by 1665 if not earlier.
