Biography
Andrew Tucker, fisherman, was elected to various minor town posts. He was half-owner with Abraham Kitveld of Jersey in the fishing ketch "Adventure." They had a falling out by Nov 1681.[3]
On 27 Sep 1664 the estate of Nicholas Tucker was probated and on 29 Nov 1664. Andrew Tucker, administrator presented an inventory of his estate. Nicholas Tucker is thought to have been the brother of Andrew Tucker. No evidence for a wife or children of Nicholas has been identified.[4][5] Thomas Gray posits that Andrew Tucker and Nicholas Tucker were sons of George Tucker however, no evidence is presented.[6]
He married Mary Brimblecomb by 1670 at Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts based on the marriage date of his son Nicholas.[7][8][9]
Andrew Tucker built two houses on the Neck and a fish fence and fish yard on land he purchased from Christopher Lattimer on 28 Mar 1672 and in part leased from the town of Marblehead on 5 Jan 1682. He signed the lease with his mark indicating he was illiterate.[10] The house and land descended to his son, Philip Tucker. The house was probably gone before 10 Jun 1732, when Philip sold the land to Joshua Coombs of Marblehead[11]
Andrew Tucker of Marblehead is mentioned in the will of William Pitcher who was sick and living with him when he wrote his will on 21 Nov 1675.[12] He signed the customs petition in 1668/9.[6]
He died 12 Dec 1691 in Marblehead aged 49 years.[13][14]
