According to an IGI record for her marriage, Mary's parents were Fred Frobose and Christine Osen.

 In the 1880 census, Cristiane (or Christan) was a widow living in Franklin (later Nutley), Essex Co., New Jersey.  She had six of her children living with her: Fredericka age 19; Katie 16; John 11; 'Fredrith'(?) 9; Phillip 6; and Alice 3.  Her daughter Mary Frobose, 17, is listed as a servant in a household just a few doors above. {ed 101, sh 30l. 24}

 In the 1930 census, Mary Fitting is a widow, age 67, living in Nutley at 272 Chestnut St.  She owns a house worth $9,000. She lives with daughter Christine F., 38, dressmaker; Charles, 34, shipping clerk for lumber, unemployed; and Frank J., 30, clerk for insurance co.
