According to an IGI record of his marriage, George's parents were Jacob Fitting and Catherine Foster. He married Mary Frobose, whose sister married his brother Jacob. He and Mary had 8 children: 2 children (names not known) born and died before 1900; Christina 1891, Philip 1894, Annie 1895-1917, Charles 1897, Frank 1902, and Marie 1904. There is also an IGI record for a George Fitting, born 4 Oct 1892, to George Fitting and Mary Frobose. In the 1900 census for Franklin Township (later Nutley), Essex Co., New Jersey, George Fitting, born Sept. 27, 1867, born New York, married 10 years, father born Germany, mother born Germany, carpenter; Mary M. Fitting, born Apr. 11, 1869, has 4 of 6 children living, born New York, (parents Germany); Christina 9; Philip 6; Annie 5; Charles, age 3 -- all born New York. {ED 194, sh 1} In the 1910 census in Nutley, ward 2, Essex Co., New Jersey, George 'Fittinger' is 40, born New York (parents Germany), married once for 19 years, house carpenter; with wife Mary 46 born New York (parents Germany), 6 of 6 children living; children are Philip 17; Annie 15; Charles 13 -- all born New York -- Frank 9 born New Jersey; and Marie 7 New Jersey. {ed 202, sh 3b, p. 224} In the 1920 census for Nutley, Essex Co., New Jersey, George is 49, a house carpenter, and his house is mortgaged (at 272 Parkwood(?)
