 In the 1900 census for Franklin [later Nutley] in Essex Co., New Jersey, Jacob 'Fittig' is 42, born May 1858 NY (Germany, Germany), 'carpenter, married for 20 years; with wife Frederica 39 born Aug 1860 NY (Germany, Germany), with 6 of 8 children living; children are William G. 17 born Apr. 1883 NY, Katherine 15 b. March 1884 NY; Jacob F. 9 b. Nov. 1890 NY; Joseph P. 7 b. Oct. 1892 New Jersey; Jessie E. 4 born Jan 1896 New Jersey; and Lillian R. 1 born Aug 1898/9? in New Jersey. In the 1910 census for Nutley, ward 3, Essex Co., New Jersey, at 124 Center St., Jacob 'Fetting' is 51 NY (parents Germany), '(calaminer?) -- house building firm', married once for 30 years; with wife Fredericka 49 NY (parents Germany), married once, with 7 of (9?) children living; children are William G. age 27, working as a clerk in an insurance firm; daughter Katherine age 25; son Jacob F. 18, 'salesman -- dry goods store' (but out of work in April for 10 weeks total) -- all born New York; son Joseph P. age 16; daughters Jessie E. 14; Lillian R. 11; and Florence M. 9 -- all single.  In the 1920 census for Nutley, ward 3, Essex Co., New Jersey, at 124 Centre St., Jacob Fitting is 62 NY (parents Germany), 'carpenter for a contractor'; with wife Fredericka 60 NY (parents Germany); children are Jacob 28 NY widower, 'express'; Joseph 26 NJ, married?, 'clerk office'; Jessie 23 NJ 'none'; Lillian 22 NJ 'clerk - office'; Florence 19 NJ 'clerk office' -- all single; his widowed daughter Katherine Dolan, age 35; her sons Robert 7, and Roger Dolan 5; both born in New Jersey, parents born New York; as well as his brother-in-law Philip 'Provast' [Frobose], 46 NJ (parents Germany), 'separated', 'motorman - RR Co'. {3rd Ward, ED 296, sh 25A}
 They raised their children in the Episcopal Church. Fredericka was one of the founders of the Episcopal Church in Nutley.
