Facts and Events
Possibly the "Friedrich Frobose" listed in Germans to America as emigrating on the Herman Theodor from Bremen to New York, arriving September 4, 1854, an 18 year old laborer. Known as 'Fritz', he and the family probably came to New Jersey when the railroad opened it up around 1872. I believe he is listed in the 1870 census in New York City as Frederick "Frobaust" [indexed in ancestry.com as 'Frobana'], age 34, from Germany, occupation 'coal ashes' (?). His wife 'Christinna' is 35 from Germany, and the children are 'Fredericker', female, 9; Mary 6; Kate 4; and John 2. {Ward 22, district 17, p.645} According to a private email communication, Grace Episcopal Church has a death record for Fritz Frobose who died of consumption. He died Sunday, 20 July 1879 at age 43. He is buried in the same cemetery as his wife, in an unmarked grave (ME Church, Franklin) References
