Clifton Advocate - Thursday, December 2, 1948: Lifetime Resident of Clifton Dies Mrs. margaret Strahl, 73, lifetime resident of the Clifton community and wife of the late Louis Strahl, died at 6:06 a.m. Tuesday at a nursing home in Kankakee. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. this (Thursday) afternoon at the Cloke-Croxen Funeral Home and at 2:30 p.m. at the Clifton Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Clifton cemetery.

Clifton Advocate - December 9, 1948 Last rites were held here last Thursday afternoon, Dec. 2 from the Zion Lutheran Church for Mrs. Margaret Strahl. Rev. Niels Bentsen officiated and interment was in the Clifton cemetery. Pallbearers were Harry Meier, Arthur Meier, Arthur Schatz, Henry Wolfe, Leo Wolfe and elmer Timm. Mrs Strahl passed away Nov. 30 at a nursing home in Kankakee after a 3 month illness. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Wolf, and was born June 2, 1875 in Chicago. On Sept. 9, 1896 she was united in marriage to Louis Strahl at the home of her parents who resided on a farm in Pilot Grove. To this union was born eleven children; six boys, William, Leo, Leslie, and Elmer of Kankakee, Arthur of Fairboldt, Minnesota, and Louis Jr., the latter preceding his parents in death; five girls, Elise Gelling of Leola, South Dakota, Edna Sonnicksen of Maywood, Illinois, Ada Schultz of Gladwin, Michigan, Evelyn Hardwick of Paris, Illinois, and Rozella Strahl of Oak Park. She also leaves to mourn her passing 18 grandchildren. Most of her life was spent in and around Clifton. Her husband died last June.
