Leo Strahl, 79, 615 Kennedy Drive, died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday at Riverside Medical Center after a short illness. Mr. Strahl was born Nov. 4, 1889 in Clifton to Mr. and Mrs. Louis Strahl. He married Marguerite Krueger in Kankakee, June 20, 1923. He was a resident of Kankakee most of his life. He retired from Kroehler Manufacturing Co. in 1965, after 38 years of service. Mr. Strahl was a member of Clifton Masonic Lodge No. 688, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 802 and St. John United Church of Christ. Surviving are a son, Russell of Lansing; two brothers, Leslie of Kankakee and Arthur of Fairbolt, Minnesota, four sisters, Ada Schultz of Gladwin, Michigan, Evelyn Thomas of Paris, Edna Sonnecksen of Chicago, and Rosella Strahl of Chicago; and three grandchildren. His wife, two brothers and a sister are deceased. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John United Church of Christ by the Rev. Walter Mohr. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Yates-Orrison Funeral Home, Kankakee, and at the church beginning an hour before services. Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens. As a young man he was a clerk in A.L. Morel & Sons store, Clifton, Illinois. At the time of their marriage, Leo was employed by Kroehler Mfg. Co. and retired in 1965 as a foreman after 38 years. Leo and Marguerite are buried at Mound Grove Gardens, kankakee, Illinois. They were members of St. John United Church of Christ. |
