His household includes one male 30-39 (himself), one female age 20-29, one female 5-9, one male 0-4, and one female 0-4.[p 133] Entryman maps show that he purchased 9 Jan 1836, the NE quarter of the NE quarter of section 19, twp. 15, range 17, Marion Twp., Hocking Co., Oh. [Kocher, L. Richard; SECTION MAPS WITH ENTRYMAN ON LANDS IN HOCKING CO., OH; Oh, Gen. Soc., 1992; p. "Marion 19"] On the 1840 census, Joseph is head of household in Marion Twp., Hocking Co., Oh. In the home is 1 male 10-15; 1 male 20-30; 1 male 40-50 (himself); 1 female under 5; 2 females 5-10; 1 female 10-15; 1 emale 40-50 (wife Anna). The 1850 census, Marion Twp., Hocking Co., Oh., gives name as "Rittchers", age 52, farmer, $1000 real estate value, b. Va. Wife Anna, age 51, b. Md., last five children listed. [p. 855, fam. #212/218.] On the 1860 census, Marion, Hocking Co., Oh., his name is correctly spelled. Joseph is age 62, farmer, $2000 Real Estate value and $500 in personal property, b. Va., Wife Anna, 61, b. Md. No children at home. [p. 158, fam. 1036/1024. ] Joseph and Anna apparently died before 2 Nov 1864, as we see son Abraham buying from sisters Julia "Giger" and Anne Grove their undivided 2/6 interest in Section 19, Twp. 15 Range 17, the NW quarter of the NW quarter.
