On the 1850 Census, age 11, with parents there.(p 855 fam #212/218) She married Samuel GROVE 27 Mar 1859 in Logan, Hocking Co., Oh.[ Hocking Co. Marr. Bk B, p. 300] He was born 31 Mar 1834 in Hocking County, Oh. On the 1860 census, Samuel is alone as a farm laborer, age 23, in Bern Twp., Fairfield Co., Oh., even though he is supposed to have married Anna in 1859. We are told Samuel enlisted in Co. H, 58th Regiment, Ohio infantry Vols on 5 Oct 1861, and disharged 11 Jan 1865. While stationed at Fort Donaldson, Tenn., on 1 Mar 1863, he contracted diarrhea "and some morbid affection of the liver, the source of which he cannot designate, that said disease is the result of exposure and the water he had to use and that said diseases have resulted in the general and constant weakness." He is described as being 5'11" tall, dark complexion and blue eyes. Samuel's cause of death, 12 Mar 1897 in Hocking County, Oh., is given as "diarrhea." as a result of the infection contracted during the Civil War. Anna died of Smallpox 26 Apr 1904 in Marion Twp., Hocking Co., Oh.
