Lavina, who's nickname was "Vine", was the daughter of John and Rachael (Kimble) Hampton. They lived in Jobes, Hocking Co., a coal mining town, where George was a laborer. George died 28 Feb 1892 in Jobes, of Typhoid Fever at age 31 yrs., 11 mo., 20 days. We are told that Jobes was a coal mining town near Nelsonville, Oh. Lavina married (2) Sherman Septer in 1893. He was the son of John and Sarah (__) Septer, born abt. 1870, and so 12 years younger than Lavina. Sherman was "from around Clearport." and on census records is listed as a gas line laborer. We are told Sherman didn't treat his step-children well, and that the two sons of Sherman and Vine, Harlen, b. abt 1899, and Fred b. abt 1901, were big and heavy men. Sherman Septer was buried 10 Jan 1901. She died 1921 in Hocking County, Oh, and was buried in Centenary Cemetery, Hocking Co., Oh. Millville is now called Rockbridge. [Bigham family record]
