He was born about 1818 "on the ocean", he reports in census record. On their marriage record, Joseph's name is spelled "Guiser", and on the 1850 census, we find it under "Geiser". The 1850 census shows us that Joseph, 32, is a laborer and Julia, 27 is caring for the children. They live in the home of a farmer named Snider in Berne Twp., Fairfield Co., Oh.[p 460 fam #511/404] We have not located this family on the 1860 census, nor do we find any trace of the children later. One Julia "Geiger" married Jacob Kreashbaum on 3 Nov 1870 in Hocking Co., Oh. (Hocking Co. Marr. Book C., p. 605)
