Advisory on Joseph Love
There was another possibly unrelated Joseph Love (that married Mary Teas, daughter of Joseph Teas, in abt. 1752) living in early Augusta County that may be confused with this Joseph Love. This Joseph Love lived in the Roanoke Settlement area, married Margaret Bryan (daughter of William Bryan), and was killed by Indians in 1758, as listed below.

Joseph Love is included in the list from Chalkley's of Indian Attacks of 1755-1759 in Augusta County of settlers killed by "the enemy" (most likely Shawnee Indians being spurred on by the French) in Augusta County:

- Vol. 1 - FEBRUARY 23, 1762. - (173) James Mitchell vs. James Lockhart and Sampson Mathews--Agreed case submitted, viz: Joseph Love made power of attorney to his wife Margaret, 22 Dec., 1752. Margaret executed mortgage to plaintiff, 1753, of a slave. The debt was paid, except £15, 10. Defendants seized the slave upon attachment, but he made his escape. Plaintiff had seized the slave to satisfy the £15, 10. Slave died in hands of James and Sampson.
- Page 313.--11th October, 1765. William Bryan, Sr., to William Bryan, Jr., son of William, Sr., £5.5, 133 acres on Roanoke River adjoining Joseph Love. Delivered: Thos. Madison, January, 1771. (Note: Joseph Love had died seven years prior to this record).
