Joseph Beathe was born about 1730 in Ireland. Several of Joseph and Mary Beathe's children dropped the the "E" from the surname of Beathe and it makes the spelling of the surname very confusing. On my Beathe/Beath profiles I used the spelling found on their tombstones. He passed away in 1801 in Pendleton County, Virginia (now West Virginia). Most likely buried on his farm. [1] Joseph Beathe and his brother, Robert, arrived in Augusta County, Virginia sometime around 1773 and settled in the Bullpasture area. They were from Ireland. The date of their arrival to America is not known nor when they first came to Virginia. The only thing known about Robert is Augusta County Court Records naming him in a law suit. What became of him isn't known. Joseph married, Mary (unknown) and settle down to raise a family. As the years passed, the Ballpasture region became part of Bath County and then part of Pendleton County, where Joseph's estate records are found, and finally part of Highland County.
