Jonas Denton and Jane Seaman
Jonas DENTON Time Line–Hempstead, LI, NY
Jonas, like all of his siblings, was born in Hempstead, NY in 1677. The first generation of American born Dentons, Jonas married Jane Seaman around 1695. Jane was born around 1679. In 1698 a Jonas is listed as living single with his parents. However the birth dates of his children do not agree with that:
Robert Denton : b 1695 Jamaica, LI, NY Samuel Denton : b 1698 (married Mercy Searing 1716) Died 1718. John Denton : b 1700 Joseph Denton : b 1702 (Married Athelena Clay 1728, Died in Greenwich, CT 1734) William Denton : b 1705 NY Died 1752 New Jersey Mary Denton : b 1716 d 1733 m Thomas Little at Orange Co, NY
A record writes that in 1700 Jonas’ 4th child, John, born (mother, Jane Seaman Denton). It agrees with the above in that John was born in 1700, but research suggested otherwise that he was the third. It is possible a child died extremely young, or that the listing is incorrect. Certain other events:
1711 Jonas married Jane Hardenbrock (need proof of marriage) 1720 Jonas witnessed deed along with Hannah DENTON 1735 Jonas’ wife, Hannah, named in property sale 1751 Jonas’ wife, Jane, sues for separate maintenance. 1752 est Jonas possibly died as suit was dropped
