From the March 13, 1952, edition of the Clayton County Register (Elkader, Ia.) John William Tinker John William Tinker, 68, died here March 4, 1952, after an illness of six months. Born March 9, 1884, at Cox Creek, Clayton county, he was the son of Joseph and Mary Tinker. He was married Feb. 26, 1907, to Addie Carpenter at West Point. He had lived the greater part of his life in Strawberry Point and had served as a rural mail carrier for thirty years. He retired in November 1948. He was a member of the Methodist church and the Order of Odd Fellows. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Frank, Joe and Jack, and two sisters, Anna and Mary. Survivors include his wife, three sons, Don of Delhi, Delos of Elgin, and Darwin of Strawberry Point and one sister, Mrs. Adam Olinger, Walker, Iowa, and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were Friday afternoon, March 7, at the Methodist church with the Rev. Wayne L. Carlson in charge. Burial was in Strawberry Point cemetery. |
