John Regan Jr. CALAMUS, Iowa -- Services for John C. Regan Jr., 74, of Calamus, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Saints Philip & James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, LaMotte. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Calamus American Legion Post 466. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. today at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, with a scripture service read at 8 p.m. Mr. Regan died Sunday, Aug. 4, 1996. He farmed until 1988 in the rural Calamus area. He was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Zwingle. He married Mary Drew in 1947. She died in 1961. He married Natalie McDonnell Hesse in 1963. During World War II, he served in the Army as an advance scout in the infantry division. He received a Purple Heart. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Survivors include his wife; daughters, JoAnne "Jody" Regan, Bloomington, Minn., and Mary "Molly" Regan, Cedar Rapids; sons, Pat, Long Grove, Mark, Park View, and Tom and Kevin, both of Calamus; a stepdaughter, Noreen Gosch, West Des Moines; stepsons, Ronald Hesse, Davenport, Robert Hesse, Andalusia, Ill., Richard "Dick" Hesse, Calamus, and Lawrence and William Hesse, both of Flagstaff, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Amelia Bruck and Pauline Takes, both of Bernard, Agnese Hayes, Cascade, and Margaret Stillmunkes and Monica Hoerner, both of Zwingle; and brothers, Julian, Dubuque, and James, Zwingle.
