[edit] Biography of John R PollardJohn R Pollard was born in Greenville, South Carolina, the son of John W Pollard and Barbara Stone. He married Frances Malinda Hamby before 1859 in Pickens County, Alabama. John and Malinda had two young children, William L and Sally Pollard before he enlisted in the Confederate service in 1863. Shelton for 3 years or the war. Present. No Bounty received. (Brother’s enlistment info all indicates they enlisted March 22, 1862) Appears on company muster roll for May and June 1863, dated August 10, 1863. Enlisted March 22, 1863 by Lt. Shelton, other enlistment info the same. Last paid by J.M. Martin, AQM, April 30, 1863. Deserted August 6, 1863, Morton, Miss. Appears on company muster roll for 1 July to 31 October 1863. Enlisted 23 March 1863. Other enlistment info the same. Last paid by J.M. Martin, AQM, April 30, 1863. Died 20 September 1863, Chickamauga, TN. Note: His brother, Wiley Pollard, was on furlough at home recovering from a gunshot wound received at the Battle of Stone's River. His brother, Luallin, was with him at Chickamuaga, but was left there sick on September 22, 1863. His other brother, Lattamore, was serving as a supply teamster for his Company. His brother-in-law, Henry Stokes, had been discharged in Nov 1862 and was at home. Another brother-in-law, John Brooks, was with company at Chickamauga. His father had already been discharged from Lumsden's Battery. His father's battery also fought in the Chickamuaga battle. His burial is unknown, believed to be the Chickamauga Battlefield.
